Trying to connect a JR SX600 transmitter, bought a 3.5mm male to male audio cable, and plugged it in to the computer. For a second it will show something on winscope, and if I move the stick (quickly) the red lines in PPMAudio will move, but after a second the signal is lost in winscope, and I get the blue line in PPMAudio. Does anyone know what could be causing this? The voltage in the tx is at 10.1 so I don't think the battery is low. Also if I hit the "TRAINER" button on the tx it will reset and give me another few seconds, or if I adjust the levels on the microphone it will come back as well. From what the charts show JR should be PCM if I'm not mistaken, so the PPMAudio should not work at all, but all channels show up and work on PPMAudio, however briefly. I'm using Windows 7 if that helps at all, and SPP v3.3.10(according to the Release Notes PDF).

Hi Eric,

Your clear description indicates a hardware problem because a software problem rarely manifests itself after such a noticeable period of time. Here are a few possibilities I can think about:

Your sound-card is overheating, perhaps due to too high input voltage. When you hit the 'trainer' button forces the transmitter to stop feeding the sound card and lets the sound card recover.

Your transmitter is overheating. This could be caused by a faulty cable or faulty soundcard. Also, if the transmitter is transmitting while connected to the computer it may overheat. However the fact that fiddling with the mic control resets rules off this possibility.

I recommend that you test your set-up with another transmitter or add resistors to your cable as in section How to protect your hardware in this page.

BTW, your transmitter is PPM (JR call it FM). See section 2.1 in your manual.
